Well, we just got back from Times Square.... what a place. Really bright.
I guess I will go back over things since we last updated.
We didn't get to spend as much time in Virginia as we would have liked. I am definitely gonna have to make my way back there again.
Anyways, we got to D.C. that night and stayed at Caroline and Aaron's house (fellow couchsurfers) and woke up the next morning to ride the metro into D.C. Ok. Now here comes the crazy stuff. Originally, before all the bus breakdowns, we had planned to be in D.C. two days before we actually got there; the day the redline train crashed and killed 7 people. We rode the redline from Caroline and Aaron's into D.C. If Leif hadn't of broken down, we would have been riding the redline the day it crashed.
Whew. D.C. is a pretty formidable place. Everything is very regal. The smithsonian is very cool... and I really wanted to spend more time there (so much stuff). Then we were off to Philadelphia to spend the night with Bryan, Danielle's friend and to meet with Danielle's advisor.
Brian's family was really hospitable and let us crash all over their house. The next day, we headed into the city towards the University of Pennsylvania.
There we met with Danielle's advisor and they talked about some pretty important school stuff I suppose. The really interesting thing was she had a globe that was suspended in mid-air. Just Floating. Between Two Magnets.
We left there, said hello to some of Danielle's friends at a bicycle workshop, and then went and got supposedly the "best" philly cheese steak the city had to offer. They were pretty delicious.
Then we were on the road again headed to New York City. Pretty uneventful drive.... until we got into the city. As we merged with the other lanes of traffic going into the tunnel, my lesson in New York Style Driving began. I felt alone with no horn. But soon I had Leif squeezin through gaps of taxis and honkin New Yorkers.
Since our original plans didn't work out we had to get a hotel and Leif had to stay in a garage. But we finally got to get out and walk around. Man those buildings are tall. We are staying on the 24th floor of the hotel... I haven't been on the 24th of anything in a while. Hunger struck so we decided to hit a restaurant called China Moon. Pretty Decent. I would say. Then we walked over to Times Square which is a crazy place. So much is going on. Screens everywhere.
Well... I am gonna sleep. I walked a little bit today.
