It's been more than a week since Igor left and we haven't updated you guys on what's been happening! Shame...
So after Igor left, Sam and I stayed with a couchsurfer named Candace and her husband in Moses Lake, WA. We learned about community gardens and discovered the wonder of basements... again! The next day we picked up Paige in Seattle and went to a not-so-great KOA for her first night. Then we picked up Andrew in Portland and finally we were a four-membered family again with all of our parts intact! Plus, he's made a huge difference in our diet... yay for good food.
That first night with Andrew was pretty crazy. Portland was really warm and Andrew's flight got delayed for a while, so instead of staying with a cool guy on the coast of Oregon, we ended up camping Mount Hood. What magical amazingness! We pull into a campground in the middle of the night after driving for a number of hours and fell asleep pretty quickly after a makeshift dinner, and when we woke up the next morning... BEAUTY! The campground was like a rainforest and there were plenty of awesome stumps around on which to climb. Andrew made a fire and we put together some awesome hot dogs with tomatoes and cheese... and some fruit burritos.
Since then, we've stayed with one couchsurfer (Laura), who's awesome and took us hiking and made some amazing pancakes, and we've camped a lot. The Oregon coast is amazing and San Francisco has a ton of good food and cool shops. The Redwood National Forest is beautiful... everybody should visit Fern Valley. The dunes in Oregon, or at least those that we visited, are so windy... to the point of sandblasting exfoliation. Now we're at Mary's house in San Francisco and we're about to head out to Yosemite. Sorry for such a short post in such a long time...
By the way, I think my camera battery is dead, so we have to buy a new one before we can upload more photos. We also weren't able to get any pictures of the Redwoods or Mary's house... =( We'll figure it out.
